Another post about music instruments
Can you guess what this is?

It looks kinda like an artillery shell dont ya think so.
Got this instrument from Xi'an. Is pretty hard to find such instruments here in Singapore. Thankfully I got a friend who is kind enough to get this for me while he was having his vacation in China.
For those of you who have no idea what this is.. is called the Xun (埙). The sound produced by Xun is similar to Ocarina but the blowing technique differs.
Personally I find that the technique for Xun is harder to grasp as compared to a fipple flute instrument like Ocarina. Needles to say, much harder for a handless durian.
Like Ocarina, Xun is made from clay and they usually have this egg like shape.. The one I have here is a 10 finger-holes Xun. Is actually one of the oldest Chinese instruments which has been around for nearly seven thousand years.
Do you own any clay instrument, Xun? Ocarina ?
If so how many finger holes does your instrument has?
What tunes do you play? Legend of Zelda?

How am I going to play this instrument without my fingers and mouth? |
